The Market Access Upgrade Programme (MARKUP; PN 18.2128.9-003.00) is an initiative of the East African Community (EAC) Secretariat, funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) under EU Delegation Agreement FED/2018/398-674.
MARKUP aims to increase exports of selected value chains, promote regional integration and access to the European market by addressing specific challenges that SMEs, Trade and Investment Support Institutions (TISIs) and policy-makers face. MARKUP targets coffee in all five beneficiary countries- Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda. Other priority sectors are spices, avocadoes and other horticultural products and tea.
It is implemented by various agencies, including the International Trade Centre (ITC), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), UNIDO, Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) and other partners. GIZ has been tasked with the overall coordination of communication activities in this programme.
The obligation to establish a web site for MARKUP (www.eacmarkup.org) results from the EU Delegation Agreement, Description of the Action, paragraph 5.5.
Your data processed when using our website will be deleted or blocked as soon as the purpose for its storage ceases to apply, provided the deletion of the same is not in breach of any statutory storage obligations or unless otherwise stipulated below.
The website shall provide a subscription function for a newsletter.
The MARKUP newsletter is generated by Newsletter2Go and built into the page. Registration requires entering the subscriber’s email address through a registration form on the web site and acceptance of the data protection regulations. The user receives an email and confirms the registration by a click (double-opt-in option). Subsequently the newsletter is sent automatically every 2-3 months. All data will be erased if the user unsubscribes from the newsletter. The processing of the data is based on the consent as per article 6.1 (a) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The web site has a protected section with a login for members, where documents will be stored that shall be accessible for members only. Subscription to the MARKUP member area happens through an access menu item.
A username, email address and password will be required for members’ registration. Final agreement with the terms of service of EAC MARKUP and consent to the data protection declaration is required before submission. Upon submission, a verification link is sent to the email address you entered. The account will be activated by an administrator before the subscriber can login with their username and password.
Data will be stored on the website’s database as long as the website exists or until subscriber requests to be unsubscribed or unsubscribes from the newsletter themselves. The processing of the data is based on the consent as per articles 6.1 (a) of GDPR. The data will be saved on the web site’s server. No data will be forwarded to any third parties.
