EAC Regional Quality Awards 2025 Celebrate Excellence in Quality Management Across East Africa
10 November 2025
The East African Community (EAC) Regional Quality Awards 2025 ceremony was held in Nairobi, honoring organizations that have demonstrated outstanding achievements in quality management across the region.
This year’s edition coincided with the 25th EAC Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Trade Fair and Exhibition, an annual event that rotates among EAC Partner States. The trade fair serves as a vibrant platform for innovation, networking, and cross-border trade, reinforcing the region’s commitment to economic integration.
The 2025 competition was officially launched earlier this year by the East African Standards Committee (EASC) during its 27th meeting in Arusha, Tanzania. Following the launch, national competitions were held across the seven EAC Partner States, with winners advancing as nominees for the regional awards.
The EAC Regional Quality Awards are a flagship initiative designed to recognize organizations that exemplify excellence, innovation, and best practices in quality and standards across diverse sectors. The Awards aim to promote competitiveness, enhance productivity, and foster a culture of quality throughout East Africa.
This year’s ceremony brought together leading enterprises, SMEs, and public institutions from Partner States, highlighting their critical role in driving sustainable growth and regional integration.
The ceremony was also attended by Ms. Annette Ssemuwemba Mutaawe, Deputy Secretary General for Customs, Trade and Monetary Affairs at the East African Community; Ms. Dorothy Tembo, Deputy Executive Director of the International Trade Centre; and Mr. Lukorito Zacharia, Director of Standards Development and Trade at the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).
Award Categories and Winners
The Awards are supported by the European Union (EU)-funded EU-EAC Market Access Upgrade Programme (MARKUP II), implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC) in collaboration with the EAC Secretariat and national partners. These initiatives strengthen a culture of quality across industries, inspiring both public and private sectors to pursue international standards and contribute to the region’s sustainable development agenda.
