H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya officially opened the 25th EAC Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Trade Fair held in Nairobi, Kenya, where businesses from across the region showcased innovation, enterprise and cross-border collaboration.
Ms. Annette Ssemuwemba Mutaawe Deputy Secretary General Customs, Trade and Monetary Affairs East African Community (EAC) and Ms Pamela Coke-Hamilton, the Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC) jointly marked the 2 Trade Fair and Exhibition at the opening ceremony underscoring the importance of strengthening MSMEs to drive regional integration and sustainable growth.
ITC under the European Union (EU) -funded EU–EAC Market Access Upgrade Programme (MARKUP II) enabled the participation of 50 EAC SMEs from the leather, essential oils, packaging, coffee, and cocoa sectors including 38 enterprises from Kenya.
The Association of Quality Professionals and the Institute of Packaging Professionals Kenya also showcased their work at the fair with support from the EU–EAC MARKUP II initiative.
The Fair ran from 7th –16th November 2025 and was organised by the EAC Secretariat in collaboration with the Confederation of Micro and Small Enterprises Organisation (CMSEO–EA) and Partner States.
