Building a Business Strategy for Export in 2020
Since 2019, International Trade Centre via MARKUP has trained over 100 Tanzanian SMEs on how to improve their export capacity. This year, 30 selected SMEs received individual coaching to build their business export strategy. Five other companies that are currently participating in the Access to Finance coaching in Tanzania, were also invited to participate for preparing their export plans and their coaching sessions started in December 2020.
Each of the 30 SMEs attended at least four individual coaching sessions. The companies benefited from expert advice on how to select new markets, target new segments, improve operations, better position themselves in comparison to their competitors and how to prepare and understand financial plans. The last session of the coaching addressed the changes driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, identifying risks and opportunities for the SMEs.
