Uganda is the biggest exporter of cocoa in East Africa. Uganda’s cocoa exports have been increasing steadily over the last twenty years, demonstrating that there is a great growth potential thanks to growing international demand. Therefore, Uganda selected cocoa as one of the priority products under EU-EAC MARKUP. MARKUP supports Ugandan institutions, organisations and SMEs to increase exports to the East African region and European markets through harmonised standards and improved knowledge about the required procedures.
